Publikacja przygotowana w ramach projektu z programu „Doskonała Nauka II – wsparcie monografii naukowej”
“Guided Mathematical Discovery in Early Childhood Education” by Dr. Lidia Pawlusińska is an English-language version of the author’s monograph “Kierowane odkrywanie matematyki we wczesnej edukacji”. The publication was created as a result of a project financed under the “Excellent Science II – Scientific Monograph Support Module” programme. The project was co-financed from the state budget, granted by the Minister of Science under the Excellent Science II Programme.
The monograph presents the concept of teaching aimed at discovering mathematical knowledge as a didactic approach based on the child’s activity in the process of solving problems — both theoretical and practical. Guided discovery understood in this way leads the child to subjectively learn new mathematical knowledge, including properties, laws, rules and concepts previously unknown to them.
